SAD DIET vs. WHOLE PLANT FOODS

The number one cause of death in the United States is the Standard American Diet. The Standard American Diet or SAD diet consists of dairy, dairy products, meat, eggs, sugar, fats, & refined foods. Whole Foods Plant Based Low fat or WFPBLF diet has the most nutrient-dense foods - it includes whole grains, legumes, beans or lentils, fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds.

When I immigrated to the United States from New Delhi, India in 1982 I weighed only 90 pounds. Slowly but surely I started gaining weight due to leaving the traditional foods of India behind & by eating pizza, cheese, refined foods, Coke, etc. And later in life I developed diabetes & high cholesterol. I also gained more than thirty five pounds during the course of those years. It was definitely the rich food & stressful job of an elementary classroom teacher that led me to my downfall.


As soon as I switched to eating whole plant foods & no added oils I started feeling better & had lot more energy. Within a few weeks I lost more than 20 pounds & got rid of my diabetes. Even my doctor was really surprised.


Before I switched to eating whole plant foods exclusively, I was a proud vegetarian since birth. I always thought that I was not contributing to animal suffering because I was not consuming any meat or eggs. Little did I know that the dairy industry is just as cruel. The calf for whom the milk is produced by the cows is not give even ONE. drop of it's mother's milk. Did you know that the dairy cows are kept pregnant while they are producing milk? The consequence of this practice floods the resulting milk with excessive hormones. The incidence of bone loss, osteopenia & osteoporosis is greatest in countries with higher consumption of milk & dairy products such as the Western countries including India. The consumption of milk & dairy products such as milk, cheese & yogurt results in many other health problems such as arthritis, heart disease, high cholesterol, high BP, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease. Studies have also linked dairy to an increased risk of ovarian, prostate, & breast cancers.
