1. Seed Oils & Saturated fat
"What is the problem with added oils in your food?" Have you ever felt lethargic after a high fat meal? There is a reason for that. Added oil & fat in your food is most detrimental to your health. It's the main cause of hypertension, heart disease, pre-diabetes & diabetes.
Our blood flow to the heart slows down because our blood gets thicker within hours after eating a high fat meal. This happens on consuming meals with meat, dairy, eggs & added fats as well as any other vegetarian meal high in added oils & fried foods such as "Chholay Bhaturay", a popular dish from India. Our arteries stay flexible on low fat whole plant diet.
2. Stiff Arteries
A high fat meal, especially one high in saturated fat from animal products, triggers endothelial dysfunction. The endothelial cells line all our arteries & the heart. The endothelial layer of cells gets damaged in the presence of oil & fat. This causes the arteries to stiffen and constrict inhibiting blood flow. It is the primary cause that leads to atherosclerosis or hardening of arteries.
Whole Foods Plants & Low Fat Meals to the Rescue
It is crucial to get rid of inflammatory foods so that we can prevent & reverse chronic diseases. I have reversed my own diabetes following a low-fat, whole foods plant-based lifestyle since 2015. I go on walks 6-7 times a week & do Yoga. I also engage in healing breath work & try to meditate daily.
It's doable with consistency, goal setting & simplifying your meals. You can also pay attention to getting good sleep, getting some exercise in such as daily walking & letting go of stress.
